Took my money and didn't renew the domain
The day before my domain registration expired I paid for another year. Next day I noticed it hadn't been renewed even though they debited the money. Reported it to support but more time passed and my site stopped working. They just never resolved the payment issue so my site went down. The money was taken from my card but I got nothing.
Do NOT use for email lists. Think twice about any email.
If you just need website hosting, DreamHost has been okay. But if you want to run email lists, look elsewhere. Sometimes lists work fine, other times messages are delayed an hour or more. Support keeps telling me they'll monitor things and then it gets worse.
I've also had regular email delays, not as often but still happening. Makes it impossible to use DreamHost for accounts that need email for two-factor authentication. Couldn't log into an airline site once because the code expired before I got the email. Not dependable at all.

Contacted DreamHost about serious abusive content on their servers including false statements about me and exposure of personal data. Gave them specific URLs and detailed context, expected a meaningful review. Instead got a generic response focused on technicalities without addressing whether the content would be reviewed or suspended.
I get that providers need proper processes but as a customer it was frustrating to get no clear escalation path, no real engagement with the issue, and no sign they were taking user harm seriously.
Not asking them to resolve legal disputes, just expected a clearer more responsive abuse process when serious concerns come up.

I had a very disappointing experience with DreamHost
My account got restricted suddenly with no clear explanation. Was blocked from registering new domains even though I had credit specifically for domain registration.
More frustrating, they refused to refund that unused credit, basically holding my money while preventing me from using their services. Support responses were slow and unhelpful, no real resolution offered.
This feels unfair and unprofessional. If you rely on domain registrations for business be careful, restrictions can happen without transparency and getting your money back might be hard.
Would not recommend based on this experience.
I did something awful on New Year's Eve
I did something terrible on New Year's Eve, somehow deleted all the content on a client's WordPress page. Reached out to Dreamhost Chat to ask about restoring just that one page. Daniel looked and said a ticket was needed.
I didn't expect much, it was New Year's Eve after all. But got an email shortly after saying one page can't be restored alone, the whole site would need to be restored to the date I wanted. I agreed and within minutes my deleted content was back.
I'm thrilled and so grateful for the prompt support.
